Support Planning

Support Plans

If your child is placed onto the SEND register, they will have a SEND Support Plan. A Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Plan outlines your child’s needs and provides staff with quality first teaching strategies that will help to support your child.

All staff are aware that our students learn in different ways, the support plan helps to identify individual needs and support the planning of appropriate provision. SEND Support Plans will be developed, reviewed and shared with both parents/carers and students to ensure that all stakeholders are fully informed of in school provision and progress.

Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCP)

If a student arrives at the Academy with an Education, Health and Care Plan, we are legally obliged to meet any needs they have. We will also hold annual review meetings to review progress and set appropriate targets and plans going forward.

If an EHCP should cease, the Academy will create an SEND support plan in conjunction with the student and their family to set outcomes and make provision appropriate for that child within our own resources. This will involve following the assess (what are the need/needs of the student?), plan (what support do we need to put in place?), do (put the support in place), review (after a set period of time, usually six months, review how it has gone and return to assessing the next steps) process and setting SMART targets (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-based).
