Sporting Activities

Parkside Academy have excellent PE facilities including a full sized 3G artificial pitch, sports hall, gym, dance studio, rock climbing wall, 6 grass pitches, hard surface play areas and a fitness suite.

The programmes of study we provide enable students to engage in a range of competitive games and in a variety of roles (as performers, officials and leaders). Students are able to apply their artistic talents in our movement options while athletics provides students with the chance to work maximally across a selection of events. Outdoor related activities enables students to develop their skills and understanding in less familiar sports.

In addition, students have the chance to develop their leadership skills and gain officiating and coaching awards as well as acting as sports leaders and role models in the community, particularly in our primary schools.

Enrichment Opportunities

The PE department offers an extensive range of competitive and non-competitive clubs for students to develop their skills and levels of interest beyond lessons. The clubs range from traditional games, such as football and netball, to cheer leading, street dance and trampolining.

In addition to our practice sessions, we also have a well-established and large number of teams who play in local, regional and national competitions. Sports represented include: football (boys and girls), netball, rugby (Union and League), basketball, cricket (indoor and outdoor), cross-country and athletics

Community Clubs

We have forged strong links with a number of local clubs and organisations in the community and students are encouraged an active, healthy lifestyle. In addition to this many clubs provide taster sessions at Parkside both within curriculum time and after-school.
