Parkside Academy provides opportunities for all through educational excellence.
Our educationally stimulating and supportive environment provide young people with a high quality learning experience, our carefully planned curriculum demonstrates our commitment to preparing students for life in modern Britain.
Our school delivers a broad and rounded curriculum, embracing the development of deep knowledge and understanding across the full range of subject areas.
Subject-specifically the curriculum is the progression model that ensures students embed a wide knowledge that is fundamental to fully understand a subject. Purposeful assessment is integral to the curriculum to ensure knowledge is fully embedded and highlight areas for development.
Central to the curriculum is the focus on broadening students spiritual, moral, social and cultural horizons, developing independence, resilience and problem solving skills that will prepare students for living and working in a diverse 21st Century society.
Parkside offer a three year Key Stage 4, students are more motivated, the sense of relevance and purpose are enhanced alongside key knowledge being taught in greater depth. Within Key Stage 4 students study a range of subjects ensuring the curriculum is broad throughout the school journey. It is key to offer a variety of qualifications at the end of Key Stage 4 incorporating both academic and vocational options that are tailored to each student.
Year 9 is utilised as a transitional year where students develop both skills and knowledge that prepare them for the rigour of the Key Stage 4 curriculum.
To ensure that programmes of study are addressed within Key Stage 3 a bespoke model of assessment objectives have been devised for each subject. This model has been developed to ensure students can rapidly progress and build a deep understanding of each subject.
A robust and inspiring CEIAG programme is an integral part of the whole school and is embedded within a clear framework. The programme reflects the school’s ethos and meets the needs of all students.
