Parkside Academy has become the first school in the region to obtain The Inspiring STEM Award from RTC North.
The Inspiring STEM Award is all about recognising the hard work taking place in schools throughout the academic year, which inspires growth through raising young people’s aspirations, and opportunities available to students. Through RTC North programme, STEM Ambassador Hub the team developed the award specifically to identify and applaud schools that are prioritising STEM provision, Jenn Lee, education relationship manager at RTC North explains:
“Our STEM team works with state funded schools across the North East region. The award given, comprises of a certificate from RTC North in collaboration with the STEM Ambassador Hub North East, a trophy for the school to keep, and a report documenting the evidence gathered in support of the award. It is valid for 12 months but includes membership of an exclusive ‘Inspiring STEM status’
“The evidence that Parkside included showed a huge amount and range of activities taking place in the school throughout the academic year rather than concentrated into a week. Evidence shows that this consistent and widespread approach is the most effective approach to ensuring an impactful STEM programme.
“The school have demonstrated significant engagement with the STEM Ambassador programme through their varied programme of STEM enrichment and engagement. This level of additional support will impact their students in the educational and life choices they are making.”
