Healthy Eating

Parkside Academy is dedicated to providing an environment that promotes healthy eating and enabling pupils to make informed choices about the food they eat. We believe that what you eat affects how you feel, how you learn and how you behave.

Pupils here flourish in a positive environment and are given a voice to influence whole-school decisions. A healthy school understands the importance of investing in health to help pupils do their best, raise levels of achievement, improve standards and develop policies and practices to promote health.

We have cafeteria system which gives pupils a choice of food during breakfast, break and lunchtimes.  We have a deli style sandwich area with an array of fillings and choices each day, a pasta bar which offers students the choice of different pasta dishes and a hot service counter with three meal deals each day compromised of a ‘traditional’ meal and a ‘world food’ meal.

We also offer pupils a choice of healthy drinks and snacks.

Pupils have helped develop the meals and menu choices we offer.  The menu is varied and innovative whilst offering pupils delicious food they can enjoy in our relaxed dining room.

We have a new menu which has been implemented due to new government food standards which encourage healthy eating.  It means there have been significant changes to how we prepare and cook food as well as the type of dishes we offer pupils at lunchtime.

We have moved to a fifteen day rolling programme of menu choices.  We still offer a variety of snacks at break time and before school during the breakfast club.
